As stated by Tom Torlakson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, in his 2014 California Distinguished School Recognition letter ...
I am pleased to inform you that your school has successfully completed the California Distinguished School application process and is being recognized as one of our 424 California Elementary Distinguished Schools for 2014. This award is a direct reflection of the dedication, hard work, and vision of your school’s educational community.
Since 1994 Hickman Charter School has developed a school culture that we identified in our application as two signature practices:
As stated in the section describing our school program:
Hickman Charter School (HCS) provides an overarching learning environment that is positive, encouraging, engaging, and safe. We promote an individualized program, both for the family and for each student. Education Coordinators (credentialed teachers) and families spend time building a foundational relationship based on the teachers’ understanding of the standards and the parents’ understanding of the students. This relationship creates the climate for effective and efficient collaboration over all the years that a family is enrolled in Hickman Charter School. Additionally, the school offers a wide range of academically rigorous, engaging and student-interest tailored offerings to support individual student success.
Our “distinguished parents, students and staff” are essential to our positive and academically rigorous school culture. Thanks to all for creating a “distinguished school” learning community throughout the years!
