A former student of Hickman School and lifelong member of the community, Gary Acosta was approached 17 years ago to take the place of a retiring school board member. Little did he know that this would be position he would hold for nearly two decades. Mr. Acosta commented at his final board meeting that " It has been a pleasure to serve and I am proud to say that I am happy with where the district is now." Mr. Acosta was honored at Hickman Community Charter District's November meeting. We will miss you, Gary!
Today at our November art workshop, students participated in a value study of elephants. Students learned how to enlarge using a grid.
This week, HCS parents and kids enjoyed a time of hands-on experimentation with probability, place value, and geometry with marshmallows and toothpicks in Merced and Modesto along with the reminder that positive math experiences are a must for our kids.
