Our Philosophy
Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten are some of the greatest journeys you and your child will ever experience. Our Kindergarten team believes deeply in a developmental approach to educating this age group and so we strive to provide experiences and guidance that will nurture our youngest students. A weekly Children’s Garden class allows our children to learn classroom group dynamics as well as science, social studies, and math concepts. Large and small motor skills development is a priority during class time. The Kindergarten team is always available to any of our TK and Kindergarten families to add additional support. Monthly Class Themes Each month our class will explore science themes related to the garden and how our garden changes in each season.
Art Focus Every month our Children's Garden classes will focus on a specific artist and an element of art. Throughout the month we will notice and wonder about a familiar work of art by the artist. We will develop the practice of noticing and wondering with the students as the class first observes the art without asking any questions, then after a few moments students will be given the opportunity to ask questions or give statements about the art. Students will also be encouraged to wondering about the artist's use of the art element focus for the month. The elements of art include: color, line, texture, value, space and shape.
